Review of the Apprenticeship Levy announced

The Chancellor has announced “a package of measures to support business to boost skills, growth and prosperity in the new economy”. This included a pledged to carry out a review of the Apprenticeship Levy in 2020 to ensure it supports the development of the skilled workforce businesses need for the new economy.

The Chancellor has also announced the opportunity for organisations to hand over 25% of their levy funds to smaller organisations within their supply chains (an increase from the 10% currently permitted) – this will be supported by an additional £90m of Government funding.

CTG’s recent Budget submission called on the Government to allow Apprenticeship Levy funds to be used towards the costs of training volunteers to make it more relevant and accessible to charities.
