Consultation Launched on Stamp Duty Land Tax Regulation

consultation has been launched over proposed amendments to Stamp Duty Land Tax (SDLT) regulation, specifically around reducing the time limit to make a SDLT return and pay the tax due.

The statutory instrument, which would take effect on 1 March 2019, would also reduce the number of questions on the SDLT return.

Most of the draft legislation concerning SDLT will be in the 2018-19 Finance Bill and HMRC are also inviting comments on a proposed schedule of tenancies (designed to replace the two schedules currently in the Stamp Duty Land Tax Manual).

The consultation will close on 23 November at 11:45pm.
