In order to submit a Gift Aid claim, charities must first register with HMRC and add the Charities Online Service to their online account. They can then submit Gift Aid claims using Charities Online with:

  • HMRC’s software and a spreadsheet listing out the donations, or
  • a compatible software such as a Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system

For claims of over 1,000 donations charities must use software.

To apply by post, charities can use form ChR1 which is available from the charities helpline.
