New Charity Tax Group technical groups – request for expressions of interest

The Charity Tax Group is moving into an exciting new phase of its development. This will involve setting up three new technical groups that will meet up on a regular basis remotely. These groups will cover:

  • VAT policy and developments (monthly one hour meeting)
  • Gift Aid and giving (monthly one hour meeting)
  • Other taxes including business rates, corporation tax and employment taxes (quarterly one hour meeting)

From time to time there will be additional meetings to deal with the more detailed work of the group. Attendance at these will not be obligatory but will depend on the interests of the member of the relevant technical group. We would expect some additional involvement beyond the regular meetings.

As a result we are looking for expressions of interest from individuals from charity members who are passionate about improving the fiscal environment for charities. This should include a statement about what you can contribute to the group that you are interested in joining – a CV may be useful as well but is not obligatory. We are looking for a wide range of experience and are not expecting all applicants to consider themselves technical experts in the area covered by the group they wish to join. What we do ask though, is that you have a keen interest in how charity tax works on a technical level and/or are keen to learn from the experience of being a member of the group. We seek diversity of applicants to ensure the optimal effectiveness of the group.

Those interested in this opportunity are welcome to get in touch with Richard Bray (Richard.bray@cancer.org.uk) should they want to know more.

We will arrange a discussion with applicants before appointment to the relevant group to make sure that this is appropriate to both sides.

Those wising to show an expression of interest should contact info@charitytaxgroup.org.uk setting out which group/groups they would like to join.
