Scottish Budget 2020

Finance Secretary, Derek Mackay MSP, has announced that the Scottish Budget is confirmed for 6 February.

With the Scottish Budget unusually being held before the UK budget, the Scottish Government said it made the decision to publish the budget in an effort to allow local authorities to set their budgets and council tax before the legal deadline of 11 March.

The Minister had writtent ot he Chief Secretary of the Treasury earlier in the week, noting:

“The lateness of the UK Budget presents the Scottish Government, Scottish Parliament and local authorities with significant challenges in relation to uncertainty both on the funding available for public services in Scotland in 2020‑21 and on the implications of UK Government tax policy for Scotland”.
