HMRC appoints a new Executive Chair and Chief Executive Officer

The Cabinet Office has announced that Edward Troup and Jon Thompson had been appointed Executive Chair and Chief Executive Officer respectively at HMRC. This follows the decision by current HMRC Chief Executive Dame Lin Homer to stand down.

Edward Troup, currently HMRC’s Tax Assurance Commissioner and Second Permanent Secretary, will take up his new role on 5 April. Jon Thompson, currently Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Defence, will join HMRC shortly. Under the new leadership structure, Edward Troup will chair HMRC’s Board and Jon Thompson will chair its Executive Committee, as well as being the Accounting Officer.
