SNP rejects rise in basic rate of income tax

Scotland’s First Minister Nicola Sturgeon has told the Scottish Parliament that income tax rates in Scotland would remain as at present, but that the higher rate threshold would not rise as proposed by the UK Government.

This means that there are no immediate implications for Gift Aid (which is tied to the basic rate) but CTG remains in close discussions with HMRC and HM Treasury on the long-term implications of tax devolution to Scotland.
