CTG Expert Insight Session: Employment taxes – current pitfalls for the unwary (25 October 2022)

On 25 October 2022, CTG’s Expert Insight session focused on employment taxes and identifed current pitfalls for the unwary charity.

The panel included Caroline Jones, Employment Tax Director at BDO and Julia Ascott, Employment Taxes Specialist at the British Universities Finance Directors Group (BUFDG).

Topics that were covered at the session included:

  • Hybrid/agile working abroad and what challenges that might bring
  • Home working v home as a workplace
  • Off payroll working changes and status
  • NICs changes
  • Holiday pay changes

CTG runs a programme of monthly training sessions, open to all members, on topical tax issues for charities. Launched in 2021, the meetings take place in a virtual format and take place for an hour at the end of the day. Sessions are addressed by expert speakers with a mixture of presentations and panel discussions.
